    56/57 Parking Lights

I am trying to rebuild/restore the front parking lights. Most stuff is available aftermarket and/or e-bay. The wires are enclosed in 1/2" rubber tubing. Believe it was probably natural rubber as it has deteoriated and just breaks up into small pieces. In the original assemblies, the tubing comes out of the cans about 1/2 inch and then necks down somewhat. This is because the tubing and grommet were one molded piece. Replacement ones are seperate tubing and grommet. Does anyone have a source for 1/2" OD rubber tubing? The closest I can find is windshield washer hose which is 7/16" and thicker wall. I think I can mimic the 'neck down' with a small piece of shrink sleeving. I can buy these for $84, but I really don't want to. Also, is there a source for the so called "auto loom" tubing used on the headlight wires?
    Thanks Guys -Dan-

      Dan,
I ran into the same problem with the rubber tube which on my lights was broken at the back of the housing..
My solution was to use black shrink tube to make the transition from the original tube too the housing and it looks pretty good.
It looks like 1/2" thin wall rubber tube is a difficult item to get.
      Good luck.

i think(not sure) but the midyear expansion tank overflow rubber hose is of the thin wall construction like the 56-7 parking lites. not sure if its ID is large enough to pass the wires thru. long island corvettes has the exp tank tubing.mike

Dan, I am uncertain if Corvette Central sells the individual rubber parts but they have this diagram on their website.
