    I thought maybe I was the only one who used Super Glue for cuts/cracks! Now maybe my wife won't think I am crazy, but I doubt it. For dry and chapped hands and fingers I use Bag Balm. Works well.

          Re: restoration tip for yourself

          I'll be quick with this story. Running to the playground with a mate of my daughters about 4 years old. He tripped over and landed his face on the corner of a railway sleeper. His lip split open and he had a perfect cut from one side of his mouth the the other. Blood squirting everywhere.
          All I could think of was the mother of this child beating me to death with a big stick.
          I rushed the child to ER and a plastic surgeon came running. He cleaned the cut and I could see practically into the back of his mouth. I nearly fainted and I'm normally pretty good with this kind of stuff. After he injected some goo into his lips to stop it bleeding he got the super glue out and used a hole tube of it (hospital labelled). 10 minutes later we were walking out, no blood, couldn't even see where the cut was !!! After he stopped crying he asked if he could go back to the park I nearly killed him !!! From then on it's used for cut in my family, I haven't used it with grazes but people tell me it works on them as well ? Brilliant stuff ! Stewy

            Mike,
            also being prone to fissures, a couple more points I have experienced with this method over the years.

            Clean and disinfect thoroughly and do not cover the opening completely, allowing them to drain or "breath".
            Otherwise, if there is any infection, the seal creates significant and painful "Puss Pockets".
            Most importantly, unless one really enjoys stinging, burning and intense pain, be sure to close the opening prior to the gluing application to only cover the surrounding surface binding the closure.
            Great suggestion.

              PS: the SG works pretty well on torn fingernails as well.

                ER super glue is sterile but similar to store bought stuff.

                    Hey, is that an AMA approved treatment?

                    Recently I used a borate/epoxy resin/epoxy putty process to repair some wood rot on my house. The instructions said to wear gloves, but...

                    Of course, I got the liquid resin on my hands and nothing would take it off. I had to wait a week until I grew new skin.

                      Mike, I got a script for a tube of Bactroban from my Endocrinologist to quickly heal minor wounds. It is like neosporin on steroids, but not inexpensive. I highly recommend it.

                        I don't trust the medical institute. Drug companies make obscene money and I would doubt if there glue is any different to Chinese Super Glue. It's all about money with drug companies. I will never ever trust a doctor they are taught by these drug companies end of story. Just ask who paid for there last holiday. Stewy

                          Stewy;

                          They don't make all these wonder drugs of today with a store bought chemistry set. It costs lots of R and D money.

                          When I had my heart operation in 1993 it was expected, and assumed, I would need another such procedure in 5 to 10 years, and that I would be very fortunate if I even lived another 15 years. Well, here I am over 26 years later and counting, still driving my Vette to the red line. Why? the miracles of drug therapy.

                          As such, I find it hard to demonize the very people that are keeping me alive. I expect that situation will change some day soon, but it will be the Government that does me in, not the drug companies.

                            As for saving the memories of us old farts, perhaps super glueing our mouths shut would help stop the leaking, and maybe plugging our ears and nostrils too would help. Don't you think? Leastwise, the one about the mouth is what my wife tells me about all the time. Says I talk way too much and is afraid to take me anywhere.

                              Clem;

                              Ah yes! model airplane glue, together with Testors Dope in a small unventilated room, and you could have yourself one of the worst splitting headaches ever. They used to say people could get high from sniffing glue, but all I ever got was the headaches, and I didn't sniff it for any effect except to build something.

                              Hope you had a good time at the PRI show here in Orlando. I couldn't make it this year, but understand through Don Lowe that it went well. In a previous thread I apologized (?) for our going to special efforts weather wise to make the boys from up north feel at home. Just like last year at this time, seems like someone turns down the thermostat 10*, and brought on the rain and wind to make them feel more comfortable. We're back up in the 80's now so I guess the show is over.
