Re: My very own "can o' worms"

and...I have found that most parts have traveled through multiple wharehouses before getting to me. I recieved a part for my distributor that had 4 part ID stickers from 4 different vendors! When the part costs the same from each vendor that tells me there must be some mark-up on them. None of them sold to the other without putting something on it for themselves, after all they are trying to make $$$$$.

Wow! great feed back everyone. Very helpful.
Would I seem to needy if I asked someone who has done this repair to shoot me a list of parts that you replaced so that I can compare it to what I came up with for a list, just in case I missed something? Like someone said, better to check twice and order once.

For a list of parts, I went to the Paragon and Corvette central catalogs and just traced the parts down from the pedal to the fork. I compared parts and prices. Found out that Paragon had slightly higher prices but maybe one or two more "needed" parts. Also, I've been having "back order" problems with CC, so I went with Paragon. Wrote down what I wanted, gave them a call, the customer service rep was very good. Each part I ordered, he would check to see if it was in stock. Worked great.

Don't forget, Paragon will give you 10% off as an NCRS member. Just be sure to note your membership and number in the "comments" section, and the 10% discount will continue to apply to future orders.

You have gotten some excellent feedback concerning your problem. 1962 was the last year that the Borg and Beck style clutch was used in a Corvette. Lubrication was mentioned before, but it is worth repeating. Because of B & B's inherent stiffness, proper bellcrank ball lubrication is much more important than with the 1963 and later diaphragm style pressure plates.

Thanks again all! Didn't know about the 10% discount with Pargon. Thanks for mentioning that. Great worm can Joe. Makes me want to go fishin'! Right now it would have to be ice fishin' tho. Everything here is froze solid.
Do I just use a good bearing grease on the bellcrank ball? I expect this is somewhere in one of the manuals. Santa hasn't come with some of them yet.

I would use a heavy, fibrous wheel bearing grease on the ball ends. Amalie Super Heavy Duty Wheel Bearing Grease is excellent!

One other item. I had my mechanic install a zerk fitting on the clutch cross shaft so that I could occasionally lube the two ball studs. Not stock but it should have been.
