Would anyone know where I could get this wire loom? I went to a Chevy dealer and they had no idea how to look them up. I tried a few auto parts stores and found nothing close. The chassis and engine bay have dozens of these things. This particular example secures flexible conduit protecting the sensor wires (including the knock sensor) from the heat of exhaust components.

Re: C4 Wire Loom
Floyd those things (I would bet they are called retainers -- but then it seems every other GM part is called a retainer) come in a variety of sizes. I had to order a couple of different sizes while looking to replace broken ones on my Caprices. If you post the diameter of the loom that passes through them, your chances of getting the right part will be increased.Terry- Top

There are two on each side of the oil pan. They attach to small one-hole "L" brackets that are fastened to the engine under one of the oil pan bolts. The loom holds the knock sensor and O2 sensor wires and prevents them from coming in contact with the exhaust. GM part #12015631 appears to be a 3/8" O.D. version but not exact in configuration.

Re: C4 Wire Loom
I don't think I have any that small. I had to replace several on the top of the engine, and they were in packages of ten. Isn't that always the case?
I'll look tomorrow, if the garage isn't frozen shut.Terry- Top

If you tell the counterman at the dealereship to look in the "Standard Parts Catalog" he should have better luvk at finding them. They were used on just about every GM car of the era.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: C4 Wire Loom
Unfortunately, I don't think these clips are listed in the Standard Parts Catalogs. I've looked through several, including older editions, and can't find them anywhere. For the most part, the only clips listed in Standard Parts are the metal type. There are a few plastic ones, but not many.
The clips in question here are not found in the regular P&A catalogs, either----at least not that I can find.
Notwithstanding the above, I expect these clips are available from GM. It's just a question of finding the right part number. I've always wondered in the case of hard-to-find part numbers how GMSPO ever sold enough to justify keeping them in inventory? After all, if they make the availability of a part effectively secret enough, how would they ever sell one?
Actually, the above also applies to parts actually listed in the Standard Parts Catalog. I mean, how many parts countermen even know it exists, let alone being willing to spend the time and effort to find a part in said catalog? In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C4 Wire Loom
I know that wiring parts in general are in the 8.965 group of the Std parts cat, I've got a good enough relationship with my local counterman that they will order the parts for me if I give them a P/N, or look it up in the std catalog, I'm surprised they aren't included knowing some of the things that are, but the std Parts catalog can save a lot ot wasted time looking for small electrical items that were never carries in the Divisional parts books. Suprisingly, some of the parts chains (NAPA and others) carry some odd electrical items of OEM vintage.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Yes, group 8.965 has a plethora of electrical parts of all sorts. Unfortunately, it does not have these. Many of the part numbers look like Delco-Packard part numbers as one would expect.
The 12015631 number that Floyd got off one of the clips looks like a Delco-Packard number to me, too. It is available in SERVICE and is a group 8.950 part. However, while it's been around since well before some of my Standard Parts Catalogs, it's not to be found in any of them!In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Ahh, the beauty of having an old price book to look up the group number in. Yes, that is a part from my former employer without doubt.Bill Clupper #618- Top
