C4 Engine Re-Build (Nuts and Bolts Needed)

I am in the process of rebuilding the engine in my 1989 C4 and overhauling the automatic transmission.

I am looing for a supplier for origianl equipmnent bolts as some of the bolts are not original and have been changed.

I have the engine and trans out the vehicle and on the way to the machine shop to be refreshed.

I need TPI torx, throttle body bolts, AC compressor bolts, and numerous other misc. I am hoping to avoid the dealer and thinking of hitting a few salvage yards, but prefer to find a supplier online if possible.

Has anyone been down this path?

I will be documenting the assembly and install as I am going to mate the two units out of the vehicle and install them as one unit with most of the assembly complete including a repaced wiring harness (already obtained).

Thanks for any and all input.

There was no single supplier for the original engine fasteners-----there were many different companies that manufactured them. In some cases, several manufacturers may have made a fastener of any given part number. I know of absolutely no on-line, non GM source that can provide original configuration fasteners for any C4 requirement.

For the most part, C4's are metric cars. However, the exceptions are in the engine area. The core engine (except LT4) is all US-size fasteners. Peripherals may be either metric or US size.

Other than used, the only source I can suggest to you is the dealer. Even then, you will find that most of the original fasteners are either discontinued or superceded by later part numbers that are in some way different than originals. For the specific fasteners you mentioned, here's the story:

throttle body bolts----originally GM #11508966, now GM #11509516

      TPI intake runner bolts

M8x1.25x34.5 mm-----GM #14081015---available (for about 5 bucks, each GM list)

      M8x1.25x30mm-----GM #14081014---available (same as above)

M8x1.25x54.4----GM #14081017----discontinued but your dealer should be able to locate some

      compressor-to-bracket---metric----GM #10105215 discontinued

      bracket-to-engine bolts ----US-size----GM #14084400---discontinued

      bracket-to-engine nuts----US size----originally GM #14057004, now GM #9442958

William, I am not sure I can add to this discussion, but here is a web link to a Corvette salvage yard in St. Charles, Mo that has C4 parts. http://www.justcorvettes.com The yard's address is: 3500 Little Hills Expressway, St. Charles, Mo 63301. Telephone numbers are: Questions - 636-947-6060, orders - 800-886-8388. Email - dan@justcorvettes.com

Good luck in your search for fasterners and I hope this helps you.
