Did you mean the 1953-1967 Corvette Specifications Guide, described this way in the NCRS book store:

"These are the next generation of the classic NCRS Pocket Spec Guide! They are a convenient 4"x6" size that fits right into your pocket- perfect to carry along at swap meets, junkyard searches, and judging events. They are quick reference technical encyclopedias of basic Corvette information, including major mechanical and electrical component part numbers, casting numbers, engine, transmission and axle identification codes, original prices, options and production quantities, power teams, color combinations, body codes and much more! Both are softbound with approximately 168 pages."

I don't have that one yet, but I will soon. If that's not the one you mean, and there's another book available covering the midyears that I haven't found yet, please let me know!
The original "NCRS Corvette Specifications Guide" covered 1953 to 1972 because those were the Corvettes we judged at the time they were printed. As time went on and more Corvettes were added to the judging cohort the Specifications Guide was also expanded. It eventually became two volumes one covering 1953 to 1967, and the other 1968 to 1982. So what the book covers, and what is included depends on when it was printed. The very first one, which was an issue of The Corvette Restorer, Volume 16 #1 iIRC, contained some information (bulb numbers come to mind) that other issues did not contain.

Syd's information on VIN's 21 and 23 match what Franz has shared with me.
Where do you guys find the information to decode the date codes? I'm bookless at this time

The info on our trim tag (body 6) is slightly differnent from later ones for whatever reason. I compared it to VIN 15's which has A17. Ours has 7B.
Everything else is laid out the same. Both these do NOT have the word "date" in front of the code.
Syd, I had emailed you the best photo I had on the trim/vin tag a few weeks ago. Have not been back to the car to take any additional pictures.

Thanks Terry. Deb, I will try to scan the page and send it to you this week.
There is no date on it, only neat in that the GM employees are definitely painting a C2 and there is a C1 coming into the booth.

Thanks David, that would be great.

I need to call Jerry Bramlett. I found an old post from Feb 2002 where he said he got 20 photos from a friend of the pilot line cars. The link that was there has now expired. Darn
Wish I could bleep myself back to 1962 when they were making these.

Car #23 is Chris Howards UK pilot car (with the fantasic chrome door and door post panels)...

              see http://www.c2registry.org/index.php?...tte&car_id=402

Chris his research indicates this car (or frame only) went to the styling department for all kinds of expirementing on the body and styling (but much earlier) and eventually went to Paris for a show (that is how it ended up in Europe). His car has VIN tag #23 but also a SO number. His TRIM has a A27 stamp (see attached picture).

              greetings,
              Rob.

Deborah, any chance the North Central Chapter will see your car at a meet in the Twin Cities at some point? Not sure if you're east or west river.
