I have been trying to run down the history on my car and had stalled around 1991. I was able today to talk to a gentlemen who owned the car for 3-4 years prior to 1991. From talking to him, the car until now has always been in the Ohio area. He was very helpful and seemed glad that the car was still around.
He bought it from Willis Prout who I understand is a well known collector in the Mansfield, Ohio area. Willis was the 2nd owner and had purchased the car from somone who ran an Auction house somewhere in Mid Ohio. He thought the car was originally sold at a Chevrolet dealership in either Ashland or the Mansfield area. Since he is a personal friend of Mr Prout he was going to try and get me some more information. He also mentioned that he had copies of the tank sticker and some pictures but is pretty sure he threw it all away around 9 months ago when he moved. He's going to check so who knows maybe I will get lucky.
He also shared what I thought was a neat story about the car. He had been driving it around fairly strongly earlier in the day but was going very slow over some train tracks when the rear spring broke. Luckily it broke downward but actually stuck on the train track and he could not move. He went to a neighbors house for assistance and 5-6 people actually lifted the car up to free it from the tracks. He mentioned the tracks were at a fairly busy area and he got it off with around 20 minutes to spare.
I thought I might get lucky and the car might "ring a bell" with someone on the forum who knows more about the history.
Take care!
