More trouble with Eaton Spring

Ok, I decided to suck it up and pay the extra $75 to have the spring sent without paint, so I call back to order the nine leaf spring for my 66 Corvette.

Now they say - Which 9 leaf spring do you want? How many leaves have curls ?

As far as I know there is one 7 leaf and one 9 leaf spring for a 66. Thinking Eaton is the expert and they should know.

Can someone educate me if I'm wrong?

Eaton Spring; one-stage vs. two-stage?

I think perhaps what Eaton is asking is do you want a two-stage 9-leaf spring (6 leaves curved; 3 leaves straight), which is correct for most years, or do you want a one-stage 9-leaf spring (all leaves curved) as was used for '63.

I wonder if the job of taking orders at Eaton pays a living wage and offers benefits in order to attract and retain a very dedicated worker.

Most people who take orders over the phone are not very well educated unless the job is temporary until they graduate from college. I actually had the pleasure of having an order taken from a clerk at Eclker's who could not "cipher" what 10% of my order was to apply the discount!!!!

That, not being able to cipher, is actually rather common. Offer an order taker at any fast food establishment coins after they have rung-up your purchase to have more fun. On those occasions when I have found someone who can "do the math" accurately in their head I always make a point of complimenting them. I don't get to offer many compliments now days.

Guys, a few months ago I called Eaton Spring to get the details to send my springs from my '56 to them for re-arching. The person I spoke with told me that it would cost $250 per side plus I would have to have a spring kit from Paragon or Corvette Central sent to them which was another $150. I told him that my car had helper springs on the shocks and that I suspected that the springs were causing the rear of the car to sag. He told me that in some cases that re-arching causes the sagging to be worse and that they did not guarantee this work. As a result I just had the springs cleaned, painted and replaced the liners and bolts. I am still working on the retainers hoping to get them to look right. I was not about to spend that kind of money without a guarantee on the work. Brooks Glover (2141)

I am getting ready to replace the rear spring on my 67 and was wondering the final outcome of your spring replacement. What was the final cost for a unpainted spring? Whose paint and liners did you use? Any tips?

I had a young lady at sonic a while back take out a calculator to figure out change fromthe $2 I gave her on a $1.63 order...yikes what are schools teaching today.
