    Christmas Gifts

Alright, here is a goofy question. My wife and kids keep asking me for gift ideas for the holidays, the problem is when I want or need something I buy it so I do not know what to tell her. What are you hoping to get for Christmas (garage/tools/auto related)? I need some ideas quick, or I may not get anything!

Sorry if I am too far off topic! Just delete my post if so.

Check out the NCRS store. There's a whole bunch of gift ideas right on this site.

    Thanks.

That unvarnished plug should keep the thread from getting scratched!

Take a minute and go through the toolbox. Write down any individual sockets or tools that have walked off the past year and give it them. Right now I need a 1/2 drive impact universal. It's on the list and it's something they can afford. However, if I don't get one I'll go buy it. It gives them a chance to get me something other than a CD or DVD and they know that I'll enjoy using it in the shop.

How about that digital voltmeter that Wal Mart sells, plugs into lighter. Runs around 15.00. Bill.

I am sending all the ties I get for Christmas to the Corvette Museum.

My apologies to those who were not at the 15th Anniversary for this inside joke. Unless you have been to the Museum since they opened the new addition, you would not know that they put up 5-Foot square pictures of all the Hall of Fame inductees ALL of us with ties on. Of course they don't know that I don't own a tie and the last time I wore one was at my wedding in 1973. Now everyone knows. Those of you who have been around a real long time will remember my bib overalls, too.

I took a lot of ribbing from the assembled multitudes, and I'm looking to get even.

                    Larry,

We are in the same boat as I buy what I want and hide it. When she sees it I just mention it has been in the garage for a long time. She does the same thing with her wardrope.

However, if you do not give them specific gifts you will be standing in the return line, not much fun.

                    What about:
                    • Magnetic tray for loose bolts, etc when working on the beauty
                    • LED drop light to replace that old bulb you use
                    • large car mat to park that beauty on in the garage
                    • Wall vacuum, professional style
                    • Recoiling extension cords or air line hose reels
                    • Airfare to Carlise or a Mecum auction
                    • Car dollies, roll that beauty all over the garage
                    • Think big, car lift
                    • Maybe a new lock on the garage with one key, hope you get the key
                    • Good high intensity LED flashlight. Small of course to get to those hard to read numbers. Need extra batteries.
                    • Now that you can see all the numbers a magnifying glass is in order
                    • Need that special part, let them retrieve it on sleaze bay
                    • Plug and switch covers, those customized items that only men appreciate
                    • My favorite a case of Duvel Belgium beer.
The point here is dig deep and give them a list. Everyone will be happier during the season.

                          That is actually Vinnies tie.

I do kind of like the way he split my beard, and I am considering t r i m m i n g (damn censor 'bot) it that way. It is getting cold here in the mid-west so I'll not be t r i m m i n g it soon. I'll think about it until Spring.

This isn't something you or your Corvette can wear, but great to throw in the trunk kit. A hand crank-windup flashlight. Never needs batteries and the bulbs will outlive you.

In my truck or backpacking the wilderness....I've used mine a lot. Works good too, to just find the case of beer in the dark. So I'm told.

                              Terry -

I was surprised when I went in the Museum on Thursday with my stuff to help their designer set up my showcase display and saw my picture on the dome wall with a tie on too - I haven't worn a tie since 1990, including the last eleven years before I retired.
