    67 No start..

Today with beautiful weather here in NYC I decided to go for a spin in the 67 small block. It usually starts right up with no problems....today I turn the key and the engine cranked but wouldn't start.

Took the air cleaner off and was able to see there was no gas when I cranked the throttle. There was gas in the tank and the fuel pump is relatively new and there was no gas puddle under the car so I figured it must be something else. So I gave the carb bowl a slight tap with a hammer and sure enough fuel started flowing....

The float needle was stuck closed....just thought I would pass this on if your Holley gets cranky.

Yup, with the crap fuel we're getting now it will happen. Might want to remove the front bowl and clean it up if it reoccurs. Bill

      John,

Had my 67 out yesterday for a few hours because the weather is so nice in MD.

Put some Marvel Mystery oil in the gas tank and don't worry about it unless the problem continues.

You guys are lucky. My FI coupe heard the forecast for much snow in the higher elevations and refused to leave the heated garage.

Whenever i leave a car sit more than a couple of weeks i always give it a shot of go juice. Always works gives the starter a break.

Marvel Myster Oil is a good top cylinder lube. Very good to use in engines that sit for a period of time.

if the needle tips are not viton they can "stick" in the needle seats because the methanol in the gasoline will attack the tip. you can also remover the fuel line at the carb and use low pressure air 10 PSI to blow into the carb fitting will free them up.
