original 1st edition 62 owners manual

i have what i'm certain is an original first edition 3798322 owners manual. In 1991 at the cyprus meet, i purchased what was purported to be an "original NOS 3798322" . i had occassion to get both manuals out of storage today and was comparing them. all looked cool till i stacked the NOS manual on top of the known original. the original measures exactly 8 9/16" by 5 1/4" whereas the "NOS" is 8 3/16" by 5 3/16". were there two different originals or did ole Varoom git me?mike

Mike,
You may have a Helm re-issue manual from back in the 60's. Compare the photography to see if one is clearer than the other. Look at tire treads, clutch/brake pedal et. photos for clarity. Originals are a bit clearer. You may have two original so this test won't help but its a way to begin.

Your guide measuring 8 9/16" by 5 1/4" , with index on pages 85 and 86 followed by a 13/16" flap which is a continuation of the unnumbered first page Owner's Kit form is the real McCoy that came with the car. I'm uncertain as to later reprints.

Hi Mike,
My original 1st edition measures 8 1/2 inches by 5 3/8 inches. It has first edition ont he first inside page after the part number and after the Corvette owners card page. Bill

Hey Dickey,

Have you ever been lead down the path. Yeah, I thought so. Old Dale probably had been down that path also.

He was probably just trying to reduce inventory and snagged a sucker (er customer).

My original '59 measures 8-1/2 by 5-3/8
The repro '59 measures 8-1/8 by 5-1/4

My original '59 measures 8-1/2 by 5-3/8
The repro '59 measures 8-1/8 by 5-1/4

my original manual measures 8-1/2" X 5-3/8" also and mine came with my new 59 corvette

Got one here in my hot little hands Mikie, it's the "big boy" version.Still with the flap on the back page and the C/N card in it.
