    hardtop latch for 65

    Anyone know where I can find a passenger side hardtop latch for a 65? I broke it last night trying to get a little greedy on getting it tight against the windshield . I looked at all the major suppliers and saw some crazy prices for a pair of these. Maybe someone has a good used one.

    Thanks, Paul.

    Paul;

    Are they different from those used on a 63? I have a pair of those I'm sure, but can't recall their condition as I have not looked at them in years. Sounds like a good item to add to my list for "to do" today.

      Hi Stu. They are the same. I would be very appreciative if you could dig them out for me. Doesn't have to be perfect, just functional. I only need the right one but, whatever you decide is fine.

      Thanks very much, Paul.

        Paul --- here is a RH one I bought from the general late '70s or early '80s -- I forget why. Typical poor chrome in one or two spots. Gr 14.080 # 3825178; same for both hardtops and soft, so that more than doubles your chances . There are some casting numbers on a few of the assembled parts, but none are the part #.

          Paul;

          What I have is a pair of NOS in GM boxes. Like Wayne, I apparently bought them in the 70's for why I don't know, but I suspect it may have been due to the poor quality of plating. Often times, back then when prices were reasonable, I'd pick up a couple sets of things like emblems and hardware, then use the best ones. I guess the NOS were basically QC rejects. My GM boxes have had the p/no's cut off (?) so I can't quote part numbers, but the casting numbers read "KBC 20894 RH" and "KBC 20904 LH". I may still have some originals boxed up somewhere, but they won't be near as nice as these - that I'm sure.

          In your P.M. this afternoon you did not list an E-Mail address or ship to address, so I guess the ball is in your court. Are you coming to the winter meet by chance here next month?

            Wayne, That looks identical to the one I broke. You don't want to part with it if Stu can't find his do you?

              Stu, Thanks for digging them out. Those are exactly what I have. I haven't yet decided on making the trip South yet but I would love to have those now so I can drive the car. Still a few good driving days left up here. I'll PM you and we can work out the particulars.

              Thanks, Paul.
