Help Me Find Her: 63 Coupe Raced at Irwindale in the Late 60's

Hi All,

I'm trying to track down the current (or former) whereabouts of a 63 coupe that raced at irwindale raceway in the late 60's. It had Hillborn injector intakes sticking out of the hood, was several shades of blue done by airbrush (so it seemed at the time), had gold lettering on the side and ran in the 9's. I want to say it was 68/69.

Anyone remember this car? My brother and I used to watch her race and we're trying to find her.

Andrew,

was this a big block car with (I believe) add on black side pipes. I have a name and a picture from the late 70's but would have to do a lot of digging for it. The car I am talking about resided in Arleta Ca. in the late 70's. That is about 30=35 miles from Irwindale CA. This car was as you described with a 427 and Hilborn injected. Let me know.

Yep she had hilborn injectors. I just sent an email to my brother (he was older at the time) about the sidepipes. I do remember the airbrush blue and the gold letters on the side. Running in the 9's she certainly was a BB car. Does that all sound about right?

We collectively don't remember the side pipes but she was a beautiful blue with gold lettering on the sides. 63 with Hilborns for sure. Ran at Irwindale. FAST!

Do you have the VIN or some kind of ID? I'd like to see if she still lives.

If it is the same car, the lettering was removed by the time I saw her. The car was owned by an older gentlemen that lived a couple of doors down from a friend. I would go down and BS with him as I was already into cars (I built a 23 T-bucket when I was 17). His name was Rich. He promised me a ride in the car the next weekend and I was really jazzed. Unfortunately Rich had a heart attack during the week. Went to a funeral instead of for a ride. I will start looking for what I have. I have a pic of the car, and the little deal they give out at the memorial with info and usually an inspirational/religious quote. I saw these items in the last couple of years stashed somewhere in the house. i will look and let you know.
