Roger Williams...he had that C-1 graveyard somewhere in Pa. He always had an ad in Hemming's Motor News. I used to buy a lot of original stuff from him for my '57 in the early 90's. I've heard he has retired but who got his huge stash of parts? Thanks, PT

Re: Anybody remember R.L. Williams?
Roger was agreat guy and had many great C1 parts. He sold his business to Grousemueller and retired to Arizona in the later 90's. I had heard he passed away shortly after he retired there.- Top

Re: Anybody remember R.L. Williams?
I bought a number of spare parts from Roger and was always satisfied as they were always better than described. He was a great guy to do business with and to talk with. 'Same with Werner's products, now.- Top

Re: Anybody remember R.L. Williams?
I remember the day RL walked up to me at Corvette Carlisle and said to me. Said he wanted me to buy all his FI inventory. I said yeah right Roger old pal. I said what are you up to. He said he had been sick and it was time to sell out and move on. At the time he didn't look well at all. So he sold his business to Werner and as mentioned moved to AZ and died shortly after.
Then wouldn't you know Werner passed away too. Shows you that the Corvette business can be bad for your health.- Top

Re: Anybody remember R.L. Williams?
I dealt with Roger Williams for many years. We became friends 25 or more years ago. VERY nice guy, a true gentleman of the Corvette hobby. I had been to Roger's house outside of Easton, PA a number of times.
It's true that Roger died a number of years ago after selling his biz to Werner Grossmueller.
Roger retired to Arizona and died shortly thereafter. Roger suffered from chronic hepatitis. Never drank a drop of liquor in his life, but developed chronic hepatitis "early on", most likely getting the infection from some food source. He was on the list for a liver transplant. Carried a pager with him for a number of years in case he got "the call".
Don't know if he ever got the transplant, as I lost touch with him after he moved to Arizona.

I haven't been to Stoudt's for many years, but I do recall the boneyard being there in the 80's and 90's. I cut some fiberglass pieces off of an old junk 54 body there to use on my 54 restoration.

Re: Anybody remember R.L. Williams?
Count me in as another who bought items from Roger in the '80s while I was freshening my present car. Although I went to school in Easton, I didn't need or know of his business at that time, hence I never did get to visit the stockpile.- Top

Re: Anybody remember R.L. Williams?
I few decades ago, I bought a ton of parts from Roger to restore my '55, met him at Carlisle, and didn't need to shop around any more. He had the correct parts for the C1 that you were restoring. Great Guy.
Didn't know that Werner also passed away !

Re: Anybody remember R.L. Williams?
Is this the same Roger Williams that sold the body to the possible 1953 No. 002?:

Steven, Chip Miller used to say. "Life is good". Or something like that.
Yeah I've been playing with the Corvette stuff since the 60's and if I had to go thru life again I wouldn't change a thing. Luckily I quite smoking those horrible cigars almost 14 years ago or I wouldn't be here now.- Top
