i read some earlier discussion about the existence of the front nose support rod that runs from the core support to the nose. it appears on 11-13 A4 but previous posts indicated that a september, october and march car did not have one. a friend photograhed an april car without the rod but recently photographed a june car with the rod. this particular car is an unmodified/unrestored 427/435 still in the hands of the original owner. i am wondering if any definitive or approximate date has been established to justify the existence of this rod. any help would be appreciated. i also have an unresolved question concerning the existence of a coil capacitor on a 1968 TI car. i read previous posts that were inconclusive and would appreciate some member insight. and, if there was no capacitor on TI cars would the coil bracket necessarily not have a hole for the attachment or would the brackets have been generic to accomodate both options? thank you again.

Re: 1968 nose support rod
Years ago I had a '68 convt., around serial no. 400 or so. As I recall, the front nose area - support, brackets, etc were very different from later production cars. I think I may still have the nose bracket - will try to post a picture tomorrow if I can get to it.- Top

Re: 1968 nose support rod
I have a 1968 that was made in September 1967. It had no nose support from the factory, but when I restored I added the support rod because I felt too much weight out in front. It has been eight years since it was painted, and there is no sign of fatigue.- Top

Ernest
Did your very early car have the L-bracket used to support the nose shown in this link - https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...=1968&uid=8961, or no nose support at all before you added the rod?

My June 8th car has the nose support. I have a friend and he has a may 68 car and I think he told me he has the support rod.
There is some Ti or coil brackets that has the flap to screw the capacitor on the flap. I have an NOS Ti bracket with no screws put in it which I can't find now. But here is a pic of a used original off a vette possibly a 202 or 207 but not sure and there is no indication of a capacitor screwed on.
Here is a pic.
Hope this helps.
