Re: shift console refurbish
Any reliable chrome plating company should be able to fix the pits and rechrome the console. There are many posts on the DB that discuss chrome companies. I have personally used Librandis in Harrisburg, Pa. with good results. Corvette Specialties of Maryland can repaint your console, but if you're able you can purchase interior dye and a repair kit and do it yourself.- Top

Re: shift console refurbish
Doug, I restored the console on my '64. Its not an insurmountable task so have a go at it yourself.
I had the console rechromed locally (Houston) although initially the plater did not want to do the job because he said the metal the console is cast from would not take the chrome well. Replating worked fine.
I masked the console paint line first using 1/8" painters blue tape then finished the job with wide tape. Getting the 1/8" tape down on the correct line is a bit tedious but all was done in a couple of hours. You may want to take some close up photos prior to sending it to a plater so that you can match the factory paint line.
I painted the console with interior dye that I purhcased from Al Knoch.

Re: shift console refurbish
Doug,
With your interior being black, simplifies things. After you have the console re chromed, clean it off, tape it off and use SEM "Trim Black" # 39143 spray can paint. I used this paint after trying other paints and this stuff is great for finish, correct gloss and durability. I recently used it on my speaker grill and it was dead on match to the rest of the dash painted areas.
