For the purpose of calculating Corvette birthdays does any one remember or know whether the Friday following Thanksgiving was a work day for St Louis in 1956? Do the birthday calculators allow for this one way or the other? Thanks for any insights.

The day after Thanksgiving was a work day in 1956 - have no idea how the calculators handle it.- Top

I bet a lot of them just took the day off without pay. IF that was the case, didn't you need a minimum amount of workers to run the assembly line? Just guessing here. PT

Re: Thanksgiving Friday---a work day?
Patrick, I think a good many factories/work places required you to work the day before and after the holiday to get paid for the holiday. So they would be risking losing 2 days pay if they didn't work that Friday. I know that was the case at Firestone plants. Don't know if it is still the rule, but that was one way to try and guarantee you didn't have a skeleton work force. Shooter- Top

"Qualifying Days" is what we called the one before and the one after the holiday. No Show=No Pay for the Holiday.Bill Clupper #618- Top
