    1969 radiator help

Well yesterday was a mile stone day. I finally re mated the body and frame and what has been apart for too long is now one again! It went pretty well and without any major glitches except for the radiator. I cant seem to get the tanks to sit in the bottom cradles properly and the clearance for the bottom hose connection is too tight so it is hitting. Many many years ago in another phase of the project a body shop had replaced the radiator support and I can see that the lower mounts were re welded to it. My concern and likely issue is were the cradles were mounted may be off. I was hoping some of you out there may have some good pictures from the underside showing the mounts and radiator clearance, measurements would be great too. By the way the car is a small block with a copper brass radiator. If I am correct I will be cutting off the tabs and re-positioning them. Not much fun but it seems to be keeping true with the rest of the project.
    Thanks in advance
    Kenny

        Kenny,

I had a clearance problem on my as well. It turned out that it had been in an accident and then shims between the radiator and frame hadn't been replaced. Whoever did the work cut a piece out of the fan shroud and when I replaced the shroud it pinched the lower hose closed. I put in almost an inch of shims and it functions fine.

It's been a couple of years since I did mine so I can't help with the alignment question but I remember that mine was a real pain to get lined up and in.

        Good luck.

        Bill
