    fuel pump cam lobe

    Hi All

Fuel pump replacement for a 63.

Can someone tell me where to put the engine (ie #1 TDC) to ensure the fuel pump will be off the lobe?

    Thanks

    Gary:

#1 TDC (compression stroke). You can also use a brass or nylon bolt to hold up the pushrod. Install it in place of the small bolt on the lower right side of the engine. It is a through hole, and installing a longer bolt of soft material will hold the pushrod when installing the new pump and will not cause damage. I forget the size, probably 3/8-course thread. Check to be sure.

Some folks have successfully used a longer steel bolt, but if you do, be very careful and not tighten to much to cause damage/galling to the pushrod.

When you finish, remove this bolt, and re-install the short bolt with some sealer (permatex #2 or equivalent) on the threads.

Good luck. Where did you pick-up the 63??
