My 59 is kinda in limbo right now until my knee gets better from the surgery. I'm prolly going to go to HoemDepot and get a couple 2 or 3 guys to help me raise the walls of my shed so I can get that finished. Then its gang busters. Gonna drop the front suspension, the rear suspension, get the engine rebuilt and have the rust-through on the frame welded with a repair part from vetteproducts of Michigan. That sounds kinda technical right? lol

Also, moderators why did you delete both of Brandon's posts? I can understand the one, but not the other.

I clipped this out of the Corvette Quarterly magazine published by GM in 1996. This is what they think. It's old, out dated and nobody agrees with it anyway.

Yup, those '77s are really hot items. Always have been.

            Brandon,
It's amazing to see how this thread meanered.
Though my personal solid axle favorite is a '62, my next choice would be the '59 -'60 due to the cleaner lines on the body. ..could never get past the hood louvers and trunk irons.

Wow guys, no need to be harsh toward a fellow member. There have been MANY enjoyable threads throughout the last couple years that I could label as not being "technical" in nature. Can't we all get along?

Re: out of a 58, 59 and 60 which is most sought after?

As far as appearances, I prefer the 58. I like the unique hood and the trunk chrome bars.
As far as the driveability and handling, the 60 was the better car with its chassis upgrades. Those same upgrades remained in place through 62. Other than styling, particularly the rearend treatment, the most significant difference between the 60 and 62 is the 327 engine for 62 as well as an alum tranny main case. Also, the 62 was available with a new (for Vettes) gear ratio, 3.08. Comfort wise, the lower seats of the 61-62 was a noticeable improvement.
So, which would I choose, money being no object? I'd go (as previously alluded) with the 56-7 which has the cleaner, uncluttered styling. Then put a heftier engine in it and upgrade the chassis to that of the 60-62.
Oh, sorry, I've already done that!

Ah I've been waiting for your response !! I thought you would tune in Tom. I did give the 56-57 a bit to much flattery but hey they are a great looking car. I wish my 60 had come from the factory with a 327 in it. That's a real strong motor that thing. I had a hotty 327 in a boat and it never let me down and often seen the sky a few times under wide open throttle. The thing was fast but maybe I should have put a 400 in her Tom then it would of really stood on it's tail. Stewy

Re: out of a 58, 59 and 60 which is most sought after?

The popularity for C2 and early C1 looks pretty spot on. Seesm like in earlier decades the 57 was the most desirable 56-62 because of the purity of styling and higher horse power, but now I hear that the 62 is the most desirable because of the high horspower. Personally, I prefer the 58-60 style and think the 61/62 is a mongrel car. i.e. If you want to buy a C2; buy it! If you want a C1 buy a 56-60 - no disrespect to 53-55 guys :P Although I have to say the rocket engines on the back of a 53-55 are pretty cool.

I bought a 59 between 58 and 60 purely because I wanted it to be a 50's car and don't like the washboard or tusks on the rear. Of course, I would love it if my 59 had the rear sway bar like the 60 60's tend to have cheaper parts than a 59 as well. Just compare prices between a 59 and 60 T10. if I had it to do over I prolly would have held out for a 60.

I'm not sure about your 59 Parts being more expensive than a 60 Ian. I think that all 58 59 60 are all tooo bloody expensive. Stewy

Maybe its mostly the tranny that gets more expensive with each year.

Stewy, I'm ashamed of you for not loving the dual headlights of our "60's. The "60 was and will always be my favorite year out of all of them hands down. The heavy headlights say "I'm a serious contender".
30 years ago when I was looking to buy a sports car (thinking of a triumph, midget, carmen ghia, or XKE) my father was outraged that I was even considering to buy a foreign car and suggested that I buy American made as he worked for GM as a dealer parts dept manager.
I really liked the old C1 vettes and 1 week after looking for a C1 vette I found the love of my life advertised for $6500. It was my very first car purchase and also first loan ever taken out.
She was ugly as sin, in brown primer but I loved her all the more because she drove like the wind and never left me down, even in the every day driver cold of PA in the middle of a bad winter.
She is all gussied up today and looking real purdy (like they say in our new home of the south), not like the bare bones I drove hard years ago. I love her all the more for all our past together. I think she loves me too!!

58s bring more money, but they are love it or hate it cars, due to the fake louvers and trunk chrome. They have a lot of rare one year only parts.

Valeria as a design guy the 57 is lets say more streamline looking car than the 58-62. Yes I have that warm fuzzy feeling about my 60 like your attachment you have about your car. But in the looks dept I will say that Chevrolet had designed one of the nicest external cars ever put into production. The 58- 62 interior kills the 56-57 by a long shot and the car handles much better as well. That's why I bought a 1960 at the end of the day it's just that wee bit better of a car ( my opinion ). It's amazing the attachment you can get after the hard yards are spent taking skin off the knuckles restoring these cars and after driving mine continuously for 2 years it's like a 3rd child for me as is yours.
Yesterday I drove my car to my business and got stuck in there for 5 hours. Roof off the car and 105 degrees when I left the car in my car spot. Only to return from 4 hours of torrential rain and down to 70 degrees sitting with it's top off. My car was full of water. I dried off the seats and drove my bath tub home and spent several hours drying the important things in the car. I was pissed at the time but now laugh it off. The joys I have had in the last 2 years with this car are irreplaceable. I will never sell it, I will only collect more of them. Stewy
