    Hello Terry;

    What does " cleaned out" mean? Into Terry's inventory?

    Just wondering, HA HA.

      There was nothing much there. Some old Sun test equipment – a couple of distributor machines and an alternator voltage regulator tester. An old 884 alternator and a early alternator add-on kit -- I think it was dated in 1963. That one had been stored in a closet its whole life -- I was the first to touch it in 30 years, I am sure. All have found a good home. The one regret I have was the R12 vacuum/fil machine -- it went in the garbage before I could get to it. No fancy engines -- although there is an in-line six cylinder diesel there now. It would take a large fork lift to move it, and so far no one has figured out what to do with it. I don't think they are ready to part with that yet. There is some talk of a heavy duty truck program, but that is not being pushed too hard. At some point that engine will become surplus I expect.

        Hi EJ,
        The engine is listed on the FI registry with F0526HG as the stamping(this is May of 1964) and the Fuel Unit was 1500. No car is listed just the motor.

              You are correct Page. vin 002 block had engine number F0526HG stamped on it and was a donation engine by GM.

              OWNER OF VIN # 008 has parts stamped all over it from June 1964. His fuel injection engine is not the original.

              OWNER OF VIN #009 has purchased the engine from 010, which appears to be a factory grind out and stamp over vin#009. It is stamped F0504HG.

              Jerry Bramlett's engine is from vin #022, also a fuel injected engine. It is stamped F0815HG. It was purchased by Jerry from a GM engineer who worked in the engineering department with these cars when new. The engineer said the engines were removed from cars often, as they were testing new possible items for future use (like AC on a FI car or on a 396). This 022 engine was in a 64 coupe the engineer ultimately bought and drove for some time. He exchanged the engine before he sold the car for personal reasons.

              I believe these early pilot 65 cars were built in engineering in May 1964 thru early August 1964. And yes, some are still out there.

              003 is a special carBlack / Saddle Leather fuel injection when new. Jack Pringle reported in the 60's he saw the car .UPDATE 3-13-09. The car was seen at the Tech Center NCRS Convention in 1978 as a big block 396? The car originally per trim tag was a white 900CC/421BG silver leather car per trim tag data of "A" code, no date. tech center then took it and converted it to the 1st big-block, but it wasnt a 396. They put a 427 in it T1026IP (66 427/425hp code) That same engine is in the car to this day. More history is being studied. They then painted it what appears to be 1964 Chevelle Lagoon Aqua. The interior apppears to be 1967 Teal blue leather color code 419, but in 1965 style seat pattern. Door panels are the same color, but 65 style door panels. Carpet is same teal color in 80/20 OEM cut pile matching carpet. Motorama Bill Mitchell style metal chrome floor grates with vinal teal backing are screwed to the floor in liew of plastic floor mats. Special side emblem below the standard cross flags, says "MARK IV 427". It appears to be a 65 fuel injection emblem, but the word fuel injection were replaced with "MARK IV 427Werner Meier also knows about this car. Odmeter mileage is 51427. Gauge face is similar to vin # 008 and 009. Drew Papsun knows the current owner, supplied pictures and is getting more info.3-23-09.

                Here's a pic of that side emblem you mention. Took this and about 4 others that I'll post after breakfast, at the NCRS 1981 National in St. Louis, just before the plant closed for good. Owner had emblem in safekeeping, and only put it on for pictures.

                  Here are four others from 194675S100003, showing some of the details that Jim mentions. Note that the Mark IV side emblem is OFF the car now.

                  Has a (dirty) teak wheel; you can see the floor mats (visible driver side) that are mentioned; note trim tag BODY is S1, meaning that car VIN #00002 (must have been body S2) was a coupe [we know that 00001 is a coupe and exists, with body S1]. Trim tag just A (no day); the first few were like this. Also early format for STYLE; "65_19467".

                  I'll post 2 more pics (limit is 4 thumbnails) showing that the jacking instructions on the fiberboard are for a 36 gallon car with KO's. And a shot of the outboard belt retractor assy (not on early '65s) showing sill plate corrosion and leather seats. --- coming up .

                    Here they are: note the vinyl trim folded over the underside edge of the fiberboard.

                      Neat photos Wayne. Drew Papsun sent me a complete set of photos taken about a year ago. I understand the car has been sold to a Northeast collector and is currently under restoration.
