    Hi Kevin,
    NICE!
Someone ordered a/c but not a tire option, interesting.
    Any other informative discoveries?
    Regards,

      Kevin-----

I hope you're kidding. It's impossible to imagine that any tire would hold air for 37 years without the need for re-inflation.

One other thing, though, is that the wheel paint appears to be of the "green tint" variety. Generally, that's thought to have ended about the end of the 1970 model year. So, if this wheel is original to a 1972 and has not been re-finished, it would appear that the "green tint" lasted for a longer period.

        Joe,

I was joking about the air in the tire, I haven't even checked the pressure in it.
I'll have to bring the wheel outside for a better look, it's under metal? or sodium? halide lighting(lights from an old gymnasium). They really play tricks on things and don't reflect true color. The wheel dose appear to have been mounted but the tire looks like it never hit the road(therefore remounted).

I was hoping to bring up a little talk about the large number 2 on the back of the tire along with the other markings?

          Kevin,

The 72 tires I own have similar markings.
And, I would not be surprised if my spare still has 1972 air as well.

There is verbiage in the AIM, on the page dealing with mounting tires, that will tell you what those large numbers mean. At least it is in the 1970 AIM, and as I recall it is also in the 1971 and 1972 as well.

The tire manufacturer grouped the tires by their outside diameter and numbered them indicating that diameter. The car was to get five tires all having the same outside diameter, and thus the same number.

Now you want the judges to go a step beyond the date code when they judge tires? Remember you asked.

Yes, there might be a few molecules of 1972 oxygen and nitrogen still in your tires if they've never been dismounted.
