    Dick, interesting comment. When I first purchased my car it didn't seem to perform like a big block. After a little investigation I found that the secondaries were barely crackung open. In order to get them to open I hade to shim the gas pedal away from the bulkhead to get more throw.

    Initially I thought it was due to the thick insulation that the previous owner put under his new carpet and still may be. Will wait to see about the trottle arm.

      Even the correct, factory original carbs can have this problem, mine did. I relocated the outer cable mounting position further away from the carb. Simple fix.

          i used to shorten the cable by putting split fishing sinkers on the cable under the dash.. GM also used to have the secondary air flap not open all the way on some carbs.
