61 aluminum 2x4 intake manifold.

Hello,
My books are conflicting on torque specs for the 2x4 aluminum intake manifold, which shows 20-25 lbs. Seems kind of too much for an aluminum manifold to me, is the sequence to tighten the bolts the same as the cast iron one? Any information appreciated...thanks.

20-25 is correct and no difference in procedure then cast iron manifold.

I have broken off an end flange on one back in the day. Many of the bolts were hard to get at with the torque wrench and sockets we had then, so we got used to using just box end wrenches and tightening to the first grunt. Not a good idea.

With Alum. better too little than too much. D/
