Exactly how is the emergency brake switch supposed to work? I know how it mounts but I'm not sure how the long tang with the hook on it works. Is it suppose to connect with the teeth on the arm?? Any input would be great, Guy

Re: Emergency brake switch
On my 1957 Corvette here is how it works.
On the emergency brake rod (what you pull out) there is what is called a E brake stop. It is pressed into the rod from the top and sticks up about 1/8 inch above the shaft. When you push in the e brake handle the stop actually pulls the "tang" which turns off the e brake light.
To me it is poorly designed but when adjusted properly it will function.- Top

Re: Emergency brake switch
On my 54 the tang on end of horizontal was set just above the shaft, way at the back of the brake handle, so when pushing the handle in all the way the tang was pushed back by the pin in the top of the handle shaft and just touching the end point, (dont know if this matters) when pin pushes on tang it opens or closes little piston to activate plastic switch and sending current or otherwise to funtion. Hope this makes sence. Brad.P.S. Does anyone make or have the flasher and switch for a 58? Thanks again.
