    Early 56 exhaust manifold

I'm trying to repair an early 56 exhaust manifold that is missing the ear where the exhaust pipe attaches. If any one could take a picture of the inside tab it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Paul

Do you have Nolan Adams' "53-62" book? I think the photos you want are on page 123.

Thanks Tom. That is exactly what I am looking for. Do you happen to have a photo of the inside?? Need to repair that area also.

You mean back side? or inside the openings?

Might be able to photograph one in a week or so. (Not sure if my friend still has it.)

Tom, I'm looking at the back side. Both ears need repair. The back side also has the stud drilled deep into the manifold. Need to see what an original looks like to repair. Thanks. Paul

All I have are photos taken from top-side on someone else's car. A 1955 Corvette.

Thanks, Tom. I found another manifold that I was able to use to repair the original. Paul

Paul: What are the Cast #'s from the early '56...? Same as the Chevy?
                Thanks

                  Re: Early 56 exhaust manifold

Alan Colvin "Chevrolet By The Numbers" indicates the following:

"Two stud outlet" Exhaust Manifold for "early" 1956 Corvettes:
3725563 used on both sides, with casting number above the "GM", on the right "horn". Mr. Colvin lists this manifold with an outline drawing that shows the symmetric nature of the part. Mr. Colvin does not say "Passenger car" for the above number, only Corvette. The outlet size is said to be 1.74 (inches).

He does list both Passenger and Corvette applications for the larger outlet (1.88) three stud outlet "rams horn" LEFT side, casting no. 3731557. The listing says Corvette "second design" and Passenger 225 and 240 HP 265's "after Feb, 1956. RH number is 3731558, with same comments for applications. The casting number on these in "middle of the ram's horn".

Early 1956 Passenger Cars: Using just this single source (Colvin), I see no indications of a "rams horn" design on the 1956 Passenger cars before March, 1956. (and 1955 Corvettes don't have rams horn manifolds...)

I am putting this "to bed" because I am probably re-typing stuff that can be found in the archives with "Search" on the technical discussion board.
