Joe and Michael: Don't understand your last emails. Should I be putting the 80-82 struts in since you say everything "fits" now. That's what was in the car before? As per my previous email, perhaps my other parts are now equally bent/distorted so so as to work with those 80-82 struts and not be good for correct struts?

I do not mean "fits" in that sense. I mean "fits" as to what these rods are.

There is no way that these rods should fit any 1963-79 Corvette. Also, I see no way that any other components (i.e. bearing support, trailing arms, etc.) could have been bent, distorted, or anything else to make them fit. So, if these actually came off your car, I don't understand how anyone ever got them on there. Of course, I've never tried to install such rods on a 63-79, so maybe it is possible to do it. I doubt it, but I don't rule it out. However, I can tell you this:

1) they don't belong on any 63-79. Period.

2) IF they were ever installed on a 63-79, I don't believe it would involve any damage to other components.

Thank you Joe. You fully answered all. Thanks for taking the time to jump in.

Your comment about not undersatnding how anyone could have got them in to begin with is exactly the issue I ran into when beginning assembly. I could not get the 80-82 struts to align with bracket or bearing housing arms.

As mentioned, although I've been a member for a long time, it's only very recently that I've posted problems. The responses from you and all the other guys has been great. I hope I can equally assist in aiding other members in the future.

Thanks guys. Everything in place - trailing arms, shims (one side took an hour to get the chassis bolt thru but working by myself), half shafts, struts, shock arms and shocks. Feels good!
