    1965 L76 alternator alignment

Hi Guys, i can not get my alt. belt to line up w/ the outer groove. Seems like alt. is sitting to far back. I do have all the correct pulleys. The idler belt lines up perfect. I am using paragons ex man. and bracket, Could that be my problem.
    Thanks for your help, Joe

Sounds like we're not talking about an air car, and you've got the correct pulley set-up ('533' on the crank; '245' on the water pump); proof is that the idler lines up OK in groove #1.

Does your alt. have the pulley ('242') shown below with the offset ? [I know you said ALL pulleys correct; just checking .] Other than that, any chance you could take a pic of the steel alternator brk assy. as bolted to the RH exhaust manifold ?

Hi Wayne, thanks for the quick response. I do have the correct alt pulley.
Will post some pics of bracket.
      Thanks Joe

Sorry, Lynn --- Can't offer any other suggestions; your pix seem OK (manifold, brkt assy., pulley's & idler belt alignmnent in groove #1).

How far back is the alignment of your alt. pulley with respect to groove #2 of the waterpump & crank pulleys; ie. does it line up with groove # 1, or is it even further back than that ?

Hi Wayne, yes, the alt. lines up with groove 1.
