65 coupe winshield and rear glass

I am replaceing the gasket in the windshield and the sealer in the rear glass after soda blasting my coupe. The sealers and caulk mentioned in the shop manuel are outdated.Does anyone know the correct replacement for these sealers that will not leak and will last?

    Doug -

The rear window was originally installed using Thiokol pumpable adhesive; the comparable current material is urethane adhesive - same material used today for all windshields and backlites.

08606 AND 08609 3M SEALERS. 08606 was the old window-weld. very slow drying and 08609 is named Fast Urethane. Use ribbon seal on rear glass and fill in with 08609. 08606 has been discontinued this year. Do`t use when material is cold. Too hard to get smoothed out. Good Luck!

I am getting ready to install rear window in a hardtop. What's the best caulk to use around the gasket and should I put some in the hardtop channel before installing the assembly like the service manual suggest.

            Tim -

3M #08509 Automotive Bedding & Glazing Compound - also used to seal the C2 windshield; it's about the consistency of toothpaste, and stays that way.
