    C1 (58) Trunk floor cover & fiberglass

The trunk floor cover plates are supposed to be metal for an early '58. How early is early? Mine is a Jan 23rd 1958 and came with 2 non original wired sized plates. Any clues?

Also, adjacent to the rear bumper bracket area in the trunk. There are small aprox 3" by 3" bowl shaped protuberance (placed to prevent the rear of the leaf springs hitting the trunk fiberglass). Mine was previously repaired and one looks squared the other rounded. Can someone share some pictures from different angles so I can have the fiberglass repaired properly? Are those bowl shaped protuberance reproduced?

    Alfonso.

My 58 is VIN 1327...Nov. 27, 1957 and the fiberglass plates have NEVER been off of the car. Are you sure that metal wasn't used on later production 58's?

I worked on 58 003 and it had the metal plates, held down with 1/4 20 clutch head screws. My 58 was #297, had clutch head sheet metal type screws that held the metal plates down, a real time saver for the production line workers I suppose, Mal's 003 was a prototype 58 on a 57 chassis, part number and all! Not sure when they went totally to the fiberglass covers, but they follow the metal ones.

So, fiberglass cover will be. Thanks.

Regarding the "bowl shaped protuberance", I'll appreciate more pictures for reference as C1 vette resources in my hometown (and country) are non existent.
