Re: C6 starting issues
Here's a tip that I learned early. Assuming that, unlike Patrick, you have no objection to wearing pants...keep your FOB in your left front pants pocket, and you will seldom have "No FOB detected" message.
I read that the receiver for the start permission (not the lock function) is in the left windshield pillar...the closer the FOB is to the receiver, the less chance you have for other electromagnetic interference. I found that placing it near the console area, or in my right pants pocket caused some problems. Cell phones or other electronic equipment in proximity to the FOB can also cause problems as you found.- Top

John
Needles, CA.......I spent 2 weeks there one night. I was bringing an airplane to NY from CA and we got a late start, so decided to overnight in Needles. It was the kind of place where you don't pre-flight the airplane because anything that might happen is surely better than staying another day.

Re: C6 starting issues
This whole thread brings the insanity of "electronic features people don't need but have to accept" into focus; I'd pay extra for a key system too.
Imagine the panic of the California family of 4 who were all killed when their (keyless) Lexus accelerator pedal got stuck under the floor mat and crashed at 100+ mph; they didn't know you had to push the "engine stop" button THREE times to shut it off (that's probably buried somewhere in the 600-page owner's manual).
We should all note that it requires pressing the "start" button for three seconds to shut off the C6 as well. I was told the "instant off" feature was changed because some Cadillac owner shut off the engine accidently and then couldn't steer without the power assist. The rest of that story involves lawyers.
And I won't address the insanity of having to press the "start" button to shut off anything, including computers. I have no doubt that the system in our new Corvettes (and that Lexus) was designed by some computer wiz-kid who grew up with computers that shut off by clicking on "start" and thus thinks it is perfectly normal.
The recall Lexus (Toyota) did on those floor mats is just the beginning of that story, and it isn't all done yet. The lawyers will be welll fed from that case before it is done.Terry- Top
