    55 rarest part

Many hard to find parts are repro'ed for the 55 Corvette or can be found but the one not repro'ed and you never see selling is the "original" (in bossed) and not stamped or drawn on Vacuum advance that only 55 and I've seen the first few 56's have. Any 55 owners here have the original as seen in this pic? Mike I know you have the rarest late one having no vacuum line.

Roy; does the little number across from the Delco stamp mean anything? I've got one with a 3 another with a 13 and one with none (must be a restamp) All have the Ser. # Can't get the Pics to attach ?

No means nothing, it's a casting number like you see on any casted parts . Your pic may be to large for it to attach , go to paint and reduce it's size . Is anyone repairing a VA.
I'm surprized anyone responded to this post ! see how few we are

You were right. Pics had to be reduced. # 2 would be the re stamp No Delco?

It may have been stamped by some one because they all have the Delco logo. Try to lighten your pic. hard to see detail , your mallory bracket is too wide you need the narrow one.

The JM said #400 till #700 was mech. And the VA dint use vacuum , so I guess that's when it started .

Hope these are better Pic's. I bought the whole Dist. on Ebay because I saw the #'s on the Adv. I'll go through it and swap it out for the one on the car.

I need to find the thinner bracket for the Capacitor.

I have a vacuum advance unit on a late 55 distributor (June, 55 date code) that has the numbers '085' stamped on the side of the bracket that attaches to the distributor. The delco stamp is embossed.

That's better ! The pic. At the right is a made up VA and hand stamped , you can see the difference where the two parts are pressed to gather , use the one on the left pic. original
