The VIN on a '92 is on the driver side of the block at the back of the block. It is VERY hard to see. Here's mine.

          Thank you
Why would ever thing I read says the numbers are on right side of block? There are numbers there but not the last 6 of the vin. I loved the car but didn't buy it because of the mix up

            Sal:

Even if you knew where it is, you might nave trouble seeing it. In order to get a clear picture of the pad, I had to remove the AIR tube that runs over the pad, remove the left injector cover, and push the brake vacuum hose over the valve cover!

The LT1 has a tendency to leak oil, and that covers the VIN stamp pad. Be prepared to clean the pad. You'll need some solvent, a rag, and a tool to push the rag down to the pad.

Even the NCRS '92-'93 Judging Guide has the VIN stamp wrong and doesn't have a clear enough picture of the pad. (The NCRS JG has my pad as 1H51XXXX.X)

Sorry to hear this mix-up killed the deal.

            Bill

Yes, driver's side for an LT1.
