I know everybody has a story to tell as to why there car is special to them. One of the thing's that makes my car a little more special to me is that my 67's body build date is K23 (June 23) that is also my Birthday. I'm just 20 years older than my car. I dint think to many guys own a Corvette that was built on there Birthday.

Bill, I see you have that typical factory "rebound stamp" of the 6JE. I have that on my pad also. I've had people tell me my pad is a fake restamp!

Close.....my '69 Z/28 was built on my birthday, and I was in the plant (Norwood) the day it was built (but didn't know it, of course).

That's really cool!!! Actually all these # coincidences are really cool.

My 1967 435 Roadster is body # 1967, I had Noland Adams check my trim tag and vin tag and sign the glove box accordingly.

Question about pad originality.... wouldn't the pads have been painted at the factory while the engine was being painted.

          Very Best,
          Jacob

WOW how cool is that. That would have been something if you would have taken a picture and your Z28 just happened to have been in it!!

Among the many painting instructions (over one page single spaced) to the engine assembly plant employees are the instructions NOT to paint the pad area -- at least not until the SB engines became blue (And by then BB were long gone from Corvettes.). There are a whole bunch of other areas that were not painted, most of them because something screwed into a threaded hole or something attached to a surface.

I finally got some shots of my pad. I'd appreciate any opinions about it's authenticity. THANKS!

Broach marks are there and the #'s look typical to me. I'm sure some others will chime in. Good luck with your car. Bill

Hard to tell from these pics. Did you have your flash on when you took these. If so, turn the flash off and take some more pics. Post those pics

The pad in roy's pic looks like the vin derivative stamp was missed by the worker on the line and the repairman stamped the numbers one at a time on the motor line while it was moving. It could have been close to lunch time and his ham sandwich and Fresca was waiting for him......

We finally had a day without rain in Chicago and I was able to get a few non-flash pics of my pad. I threw in my trim & vin tags for the heck of it, too.

                              Thanks!
