I recently bought a July-built '66 L36 that I had inspected by a Master NCRS Judge before purchase. The block #'s match, but were painted over during restoration, so he couldn't inspect the broach marks.
However, at some point in it's life, someone decided to put an aluminum intake on it. Here're my questions:
1) How can I tell (without taking it off...) if the intake is from an L72?
2) Were the aluminum intakes on the L72's able to just be bolted on to an L36 block? Would there have been some sort of perfomance advantage for doing so?
Thanks! I've also posted a question about broach marks in a different thread.
