'73 Additional Rubber Flap on Front Air Dam

When did GM start adding this additional rubber flap that is riveted to the front plastic air dam?

I believe this was only on LS4s with A/C? This was to help with engine overheating?

Any VIN numbers when it started or not?

    Thanks.

Can't help with VIN numbers, but yes on LS4s with C60 but not for the reason you suggest.

Actually it was to help with cooling. There was enough engine and accessories to help with overheating, but you didn't want that WA response -- but the devil made me do it.

Nice find Mike. With a VIN for the start of factory installation. This is all the information you needed Peter.

          Yes nice find!

So with my VIN # 2051 being a very early '73. Date of the Service Bulletin of May 1973 and VIN #s of 10,000.

You would not expect to find the additional rubber flap on my car.

          Now just for argument sake.....

Say I returned the car to my Chevrolet dealership in June of 1973 and was complaining of the car overheating in stop and go traffic during the summer months and they installed this rubbler flap.

How would my car be judged?

Peter, check out your copy of the NCRS Judging Reference Manual. You'll find there's already a rule in place covering documented factory recall modifications...

Thanks Jack. Section 9 of the Factory Recall Modification.
