At least in California there are rules as to placement of decals on the windshield. Not a priority enforcement item but you should be aware.

<<12) A portable Global Positioning System (GPS), which may be mounted in a 7-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield farthest removed from the driver or in a 5-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield nearest to the driver, if the system is used only for door-to-door navigation while the motor vehicle is being operated and outside of an airbag deployment zone.>>

What is an "airbag deployment zone"??

Is there anything in Kalifornia that isn't over-regulated?

I guess the only way to determine the "Airbag Deployment Zone" is to test it. It probably varies from one car to another. Perhaps The Insurance Institute could run some tests.

Stu, contact your Congressperson (see, I'm PC!) and see if you can get the ball rolling for a fed government grant for an Airbag Deployment Zone Test.
Please be prepared to report your findings to us at the Kissimmee Regional.
          Cheers,

I'm having trouble deciding whether or not to post a picture of my 2 NCRS decals.

Oh, go ahead Tom. We all know you drive your cars so you're not going to have stickers pastered all over your windshield obstructing your vision. I have lots and lots of stickers and cruise in/show refrigerator magnets and dash plaques, but they are mostly at home in bags or envelopes. I like the display boards for that type memorbilia or the show and tell photo books. The exceptions; I have a window sticker copy on my passenger window and a short car history sign on my driver's side window. I roll these up for display at shows, but down when I drive - and I live in Florida so I can do that nearly year around.

I placed mine over a nasty scratch on the passenger vent window. One strategically placed NCRS sticker and presto! Instant glass restoration!

I wish the NCRS would make one of those static non glue type. I hate puting any decal on my vette. I placed mine on my non vette car.

Daniel, I'll second that one. Have had it in the back of my mind for years and never thought to ask the question. Even if they don't give them out, I think they could sell a ton of the removeable decals to move from car to car, etc.

Its a decal!!! Put it where you want as long as it does not interfere with your line of vision. You can remove it with warm water or if you have manual dexterity a single edge razor without damaging any original components in the car.
                        Have fun!!

I was a little hesitant about putting a decal, sticker, etc. on an ORIGINAL piece of glass or plexiglas (I mentioned plexiglas if you have a removable hardtop). Obviously you don't want to cover a date code, and you don't want to accidently scratch, etch, damage, etc., anything if you ever decided to remove the decal/sticker. Plexiglas scratches VERY easily. Glass can be scratched too. I ended up putting mine on the windshield, in the lower right hand corner. I put it there because my windshield is not original glass.

I applied the decal for purposes of gaining a couple extra points during flight judging. It was my intent to remove the decal when I got home because it's not "factory." A few days later, after the judging was over and I'd driven home, I decided to remove the decal. The spot on the windshield where I had applied the decal was a little awkward to get at, curved, and just inches above my ORIGINAL dash which is covered in ORIGINAL vinyl. I looked at the razor blade in my hand and then reconsidered. Needless to say, three years later, the decal is still on the windshield. I certainly support NCRS, so I figured, "Whatever."

All I'm saying is this: Put the decal on non-original glass/plexiglas if possible, and put it in a position where it can be EASILY removed if you ever decide to do so. Good luck.

Don't put the sticker on ANY plastic window. Hartop or convertible.

Thanks to all for your expert advise. After much thought I decided to place the logo on the left front window which does not obstruct my view. I do have a question as to why anyone would not want an NCRS logo sticker on their vintage corvette?
                            Thanks again,

I have been questioning whether I should use the sticker. I joined for the valuable restoration information and to support those trying to pass this info on. But I am not trying to build an NCRS rated Vette. More power to those who are.
I am just out to do the best possible restoration. Done by my own hands in my way. With the valuable info here and on the Forum. Keeping in mind originality and resale. So I feel it might be hypocritical for me to use the sticker. Then people will think I am trying to live up to NCRS rated build. Opening me up to all kinds of "know it all" grief everytime I show it. No disrespect to those who do "know it all".

Am I wrong? I wouldn't want to be a poser.

Yes. The sticker just shows that you're an NCRS member, interested in restoration/preservation of Corvettes and learning more about them; there are LOTS of NCRS members (probably 90%) who aren't into judging-correct restorations and all the associated little details, but all of us share interest in the cars and enjoy the people we meet along the way.

The cars bring us together, but it's the people that keep us together!
