    '69+ Muncie OTC stamp coding

A while ago we were discussing the "CT" series of over-the-counter chevrolet transmissions, and I mentioned that there was also the "CC" series, IMHO the case assembly only (incl. magnetic fill/drain plugs).

Well, here's one that's popped up on eBay with a "CC1 _____ 35817" stamping. Lots of good pics (it's not mine ). Nice shots of the original M22 gears, but they've shaved off every 2nd engagement tooth to make a "crash box" (ie. no clutching necessary) and there seems to be a 3-4 slider installed on the 1-2 shift as well.

For comparison, I have a complete OTC M22, coded CT1 ____ 43265, P1D19C, so I'm thinking that the series numbering is different for "CC" cases and "CT" complete assembled transmissions.

    Comments welcome.

Very old-fashoned style crashbox. We quit using the modified synchro teeth on the stock gears and went to the modified gears with the wended on colar and large dogs in '73, and I thought we were among the last to change over.
