I am virtually certain this will be done. There was another black trim tag sold a few years back and when the car showed up on the judging field it was disqualified. The "owner" was a used Corvette dealer (it was NOT Pro Team).

I believe that the car you are referring to will be auctioned off in Scottsdale this coming January.
