What's the best way to lubricate speedometer and tachometer cables? I've got the dash out of my '62. The 2 cable ends are now easily accessible. I've also got some cable lubricant goop in a tube.

Re: Speedometer and Tach Cables Lubrication
My method is to remove the cable from its outer sheath. Use brake cleaner + compressed air to wash the ID of the sheath clean from residual, dried, grease and allow it to dry thoroughly. Now, apply fresh lube (your choice there are several forms of speedo cable lube available from your FLAPS, see prior threads) and slide the inner cable back into the sheath...- Top

Re: Speedometer and Tach Cables Lubrication
Just a note to add to Jacks instruction. Do not use the lubricant and smear it on the cable excessively. Lightly coat the cable with no excess lube. If you use too much lube the cable will act as a screw pump and drive the lube into the head of the speedo and tach. When that happens it has to be removed, cleaned and calibrated again.
In this case, less is more!
