Mid-year parking lamp retainers (cad or black phos?)

On a mid-year, could someone tell me whether the retainers that hold the front parking lamps to the inner fender are cadmium or black phos plated? I have some NOS GM retainers, but they are silver zinc and don't think this is correct. Are the special nuts with the integral flat washers cad or black?

Trying to get the details correct!! thank you - Jeff Cornwell

    Jeff:

I cannot be sure on a 67, as I don't have the 67 manual handy. I do know the JG for 63 lists the retainer as a cadmium plated retainer attached with hex nuts with captive star washers.

Here's an original one from a 64; Have never seen anything else but the cad type finish however only looked at a few hundred, know other members have looked at more and some even have a few hundred.
If you download & enlarge picture you can see the nuts better.

Is it possible that the retainer was natural, unplated?

(by the way, nice original DARK amber lens)

The retainer was cad or zinc and the nut had an intergal flat washer.

I have a bag of new ones purchased from GM in about 75 and they are plain, no plating. I still have a set that came off of the Krughoff 63, the 7000 mile Calif car that was ONLY used on Sunday's (at the drag strip) and they are also natural/naked. I dunno.

Thank you very much for the picture. Looks like the nuts are cad plated... Jeff

I have had 3 67s (owned in 70, 79, 84-I was 3rd owner of each one) and all were CAD, never any zinc regardless of what anyone says I don't believe any were ever zinc

I just put a set of NOS retainers and nuts on a 65 and all parts were cad.
