In looking around the net and suppliers, it seems there is no place to get the original, 15X5.5 steel wheels. There are some very expensive used ones painted up to hide the rust corrosion on epay, and some wider ones that are new or newer (15X6 or 15X8), but nothing else. Anybody know of a supplier for these original type wheels? Thanks.

Re: Stock steel wheels for '66
Michael,
They are becoming hard to find and more expensive. They come up once in a while in the Driveline and I would check it regularly. Ebay and the rest are . . . dicey.
If you aren't worried about being original dated wheels, you can find service replacement wheels a little easier and for a little less.
You are welcome to send me an email and I can give you some leads if you are interested.
Good luckRob

Re: Stock steel wheels for '66
You might try putting a "Parts Wanted" ad in the Driveline. Or if you can wait 'till Carlisle that's a good source. There were several sets there in various conditions this year. I scored me a pair, that was all I needed.

Re: Stock steel wheels for '66
Mike,
Like any parts for older Corvettes, they're getting tougher and tougher to find. I think you might have some luck running a want ad in the Driveline. I think guys have them in garages and sheds. The reason I say this is because I knew a guy who had two used sets of original steel wheels in a shed behind his garage. He sold a set to a friend of mine. I have also seen some of the Corvette parts suppliers selling them individually a few years ago. I know that Chicago Corvette had originals for sale a few years ago. I didn't buy from Chicago Corvette, because I had prior PERSONAL experience with this organization, and I was less than impressed with their service. I got a VERY nice set of four originals from a local Corvette restorer in 2006. They were clean but had some very light surface rust and scratches. I paid $35 each, got them bead blasted for $10 each, and then primed and painted them myself. They look great!! They're out there, but you have to look. I have seen single originals selling for as much as $150 - $200 each. Just keep looking and asking around. You'll find them. I'm glad you're trying to find original parts for your Corvette. Good luck.
