    Colvin's book and some people of the classic chevy site both reference a different 3731762 head with a large 'T' cast into it. I have not seen one of these heads yet.

      I was able to review one of the heads today and it was dated E 22 9. It falls within the dates that you listed. There was a large "N" cast in it between the rockers but no Large "T".

        So, is it possible that the year indicator on the date code was upside down from at least May 20th (E 20) to May 24th (E 24) for that particular casting mold?

        I guess it could happen. Just seems unlikely to me.

          The brass plate on the pattern carrying the casting date was changed every day; not likely that an error of that nature would continue un-noticed for five days.
