Background: 1965 L76 A/C Coupe built 2/18/65. On the drive to Killeen that Thursday morning for the Lone Star Regional, it was drizzling in Fort Worth. I noticed that water was seeping in and pooling on the inside of the windshield, at its base in a few spots. So, I figured that a new repro gasket is in my car's near future.
The next day during Flight judging, my car's tinted windshield took 12 originality point deductions. That is 10 points (50% standard deduction) for a "service replacement" (no date, tint does not fade properly) windshield and 2 points (20%) deduction for the gasket (aged, not correct config.). I want to recover these points, so I need your advice:
I plan to buy a new correctly-DATE-CODED ("VG"-Dec. '64) repro tinted windshield and gasket from Auto City Classics. After installing this windshield & gasket properly, can I expect to recover ALL of the originality deductions at the next meet? Is there anything I need to understand and expect before buying this windshield? -Clark
