Recently my car was judged and I found the small black plastic plug in the dipstick handle was missing. I purchased a "dipstick repair kit" from LICS and noticed the rubber boot that came with the kit is much longer than what I have in my dipstick handle.
In fact the material in my handle...which appears to be plastic...is flush with the end of the metal bell. The rubber boot from LICS is 5/8" in length before being inserted and glued into the metal bell. I am wondering if this rubber boot should be shortened before insertion?
Can anyone tell me what the correct length this rubber boot should be once it is seated and protrudes from the metal bell on the handle? Or maybe post a picture?
TIA,
Dave
