Where to go for correct side exhaust and manifolds?

I am installing my #'s matching L-71.

I was thinking I was going to save a few bucks and use my existing ceramic coated headers and pipes... but it is really not right, and I may just bite the bullet and get correct manifolds and side exhaust pipes as she came from the factory.

Do I have to go NOS, if so I am afraid it's out of my budget for right now.

Can I use correct dated reproduction manifolds and repro pipes? ....and if so, does anyone have any advice to offer me on as to where to get the best deal on a good set?

Well your choices are few:

Allens may still have some original side pipes (recommended for perfect sound and originality since they are NOS)

Ecklers has the side covers reproduced by the original manufacturer but they are good at best.

Exhaust manifolds are closest at Paragon.

Then again, if you want NOS, keep watching e-babe!

What about Cranes reproduction dated manifolds and pipes?

I am going to probably re-use my original side-covers. They are in decent driver condition, and I am going to drive the car... so I will probably wait to get covers until I take the flares off and paint the car one day.

As far as I know, Crane's and Paragon's manifolds are the same. I tend to buy from Paragon when I can because their "stick with us" discount usually ends up making the parts the cheapest, and they are pretty close to me so shipping is usually quick.

Good luck and shop around, price really vary.

I seem to remember a local Corvette shop in my area (not mentioning names) doing a fair amount of research with I think Corvette Central last year. I do remember being there when they were camparing the repops to some NOS that they had. Not sure exactly how this ended , but you may want to look at the ones they have. It did seem they were working hard at getting it right.
