I am trying to clean up acid off my battery, tray & hold down brackets...I have read the past threads and understand to use a baking soda & water mixture, but how much baking soda to water ratio is it? (thick paste or more runny). Any suggestions on how to keep it a clean as possible? ['66 small block, no A/C, Delco DC-12 tar top] Thanks, Dan

Re: Cleaning C2 battery help
I usually just take a big pot of hot water, add about 1/4 to 1/2 box of baking soda, and keep on pouring the water/baking soda mixture until it no longer foams up. If you run out of water before the foaming stops, I repeat the step. Once you are happy, I usually then just pour another pot of hot water over to rinse the residue.NCRS New England Chapter Chairman 2022, 2024

Re: Cleaning C2 battery help
I would suggest you remove the battery tray from the car. Leaving it in will get the two lower shields and frame contaminated from the solution and acid mix and start corrosion on them too. Rubber seal on shield will trap acid/solution mix. Also the fuel line runs under the battery tray and is not as resistant to acid.- Top
