Are you seeing them through the mirror or actually looking at them ?
It would seem if you were actually seeing them you would be driving the car backwards.

Rick Smith is spot on. The 59 Cadillac is possible to see the tail lights while driving ( I never thought of that one). Well I will tell you since nobody will have a guess. I had an intermittent brake light problem and realised while I'm driving If I look over my shoulder you can see if they are working which started fascinating me. I have never been in a car that you could drive and see the brake lights. I thought my 1960 C1 was the only car out there but now realise that a 59 and maybe even a 60 caddy could also be seen while driving. Stewy

Hey Dale don't laugh I have nearly crashed a couple of times looking at the brake lights. They kind of hypnotize me and then when I look forward I'm in the wrong lane. Stewy

Technically, to us here in the states, you would be on the correct side if you were on the wrong side! You guys down under are always on the wrong side!

p.s. Yes I always spot check the right rear on my '59, and have my passenger check the left rear. And BTW, my 84 Buick Riviera had fiber monitors for the tail/stop lights above the rear window. Always thought that was pretty cool.
