    under dash braces for 67

    what color should they be. one of them looked to have factory color over spray.

    Kieth,

    They were semi gloss black and installed before paint so the have some body color over spray applied from the windshield opening.

      alright but I found no evidence of being black, just a little bit of the green used on the bird cage. also this a A.O. Smith body

        Your right AOS bars were zinch. With body color on top.

            St. Louis bodies had the rods dip-primed black before they were installed in the Body Shop, then they got some color overspray later in the Paint Shop.

            A.O. Smith didn't have a black dip-prime system, so they sprayed loose raw metal parts like the rods with green zinc chromate primer prior to installation, then the rods got some color overspray later in the Paint Shop. Because of that, they had to do extra blackout spraying in the engine compartment (after color) so you couldn't see the ugly green primer on the radiator support.
