    71 LT-1 PCV hose routing

I am trying to determine the correct routing of the pair of hoses from the carb (larger one to the PCV valve on the left valve cover) down to the vapor canister mounted on the left inner fender. Photos of other cars shown these 2 routes:

    1. From the PCV valve back along the top of the valve cover, crossing on top of the master cylinder or brake booster at the firewall and down to the canister.

    2. From the PCV valve over directly over and down toward the left inner fender and to the cansister.

It's hard to tell from the AIM, but it seems to indicate method 1. It shows a clip in the middle of space to suppor the hose, but I cannot determine where this clip is actually located. Photos of a car in Dobbins Fact Book show method 2.

Robert, My July built LT-1 utilizes PVC routing #1. These appear to be original hoses, so I have to assume the routing is unchanged from the factory.

Robert, thanks for your reply. One of my hoses appears to be original, and it length does a good job of matching routing #1. My car is an early build, in September.

          Good photos, Paul. Thanks.

Looks like that answers the question.

That yellow label is warning information about the carbon canister that became the standard fuel vapor reduction system in model year 1971. That same label appeared on all 1970 models equipped with NA9 option -- the carbon canister (and a few other small items). My belief is that when 1971 Corvette production began the remaining stock of yellow labels was placed on all the 1971 models until that stock was exhausted. The last several editions of the 1970-1972 TIM&JG (since about 1993) have given an approximate range of 1971 Corvettes with that label. Ed, your car just missed the boat.

My car is #2165, and also shows no evidence of the yellow label.

The '70-'72 TIM/JG states the yellow emissions label was used in 1971 up to at least serial number 1455.

I can tell you that my old LT-1 S/N 1914 had that label when I purchased the car in 1974 from the original owner. Dr. Dobbins use my label and some others to get the correct wording on the reproduction labels. I took some photos back in 1984 for him at Bloomington Gold. I think I told Terry many years back about my label and the S/N when he was Team Leader it was just never updated in the judging guide Team Leaders always have a lot on their plate and I should have given that info in writing to help Terry. Also had a man locally buy a 71 S/N 2204 back in Aug no yellow label unrestored car and showed on signs of the label. Paul 18046

My 1324 is origional and on yellow label but it does have the 70 LT-1 stripe and decal and side grills along with some other 70 details. Ed
